Gingras Rally Sport to field new Subaru WRX in 2002

ELK RIVER, Minnesota -- Gingras Rally Sport is taking a breather for 2002, to build a new car, to return to an owner/driver team, and to spend more time with the family. Steve has purchased a 2002 Subaru WRX and it is undergoing the conversion from street to rally configuration. The new car will run in the SCCA Open Class.

As of mid-May the new car has been stripped, the new rollcage installed, and the engine is being re-built by SVS of Saginaw, Minnesota. The new GRS Subaru is expected to debut at Maine Forest ProRally in late July.

ACT II Microwave Popcorn and PIAA lighting return as sponsors, and MRT Performance of Australia will join the list of sponsors for 2002.

One other change for 2002 and beyond -- co-driver Bill Westrick has announced his retirement from the sport. His decision was based on the busy rally schedule of 2001 and a growing interest in sailing.
